This post takes quite awhile to get to the point but if you make it all the way to the end, I promise the video is worth it:
I knew when I started my job with Imperium Renewables that I was walking into the coolest office space I would ever experience. We were on the top floor of a renovated furniture factory with a stunning view overlooking the port, the Sound and the Olympic mountains. Tragically I never worked late enough to post a great sunset picture but here is the view at a respectable hour:
We could have easily fit 50 people in the space but I only had to share with 9 friends. The back room of my office was probably an old elevator shaft so I had a 20+ foot ceiling and views of the southern Seattle skyline. Besides the endless chanting of rabid Seahawk fans outside my window, it was ideal.
Eventually reality caught up with me and after the company was purchased, the three survivors moved into Smith Tower. It was the tallest skyscraper on the west coast from 1914 to 1962 and our elevators are run by professionals! I am still pretty spoiled with an office on the 15th floor (a personal best) looking out the windows at some awesome sunrises. Sadly for my boss, he shares the space with me and probably ponders daily why he hired me in the first place...
Twenty floors above us, perched atop Smith Tower, are the only three full time residents and they live in an entirely different reality. I'll leave it to the professionals to provide your video tour: Smith Tower Squatters . My single run in with Petra came while I was giving Kat and Robin a tour of the observation deck (35th floor). We had just finished lunch at a barbecue joint and as we got out of the elevator, Petra was waiting to go down. She thought she smelled smoke but as she followed the trail with surprising skill, her nose led her straight to Kat's hair which had adsorbed that beautiful brisket aroma.
Important note: The observation deck is only open to tenants and their guests so if you want to check it out, you need to come visit soon!
