There is a mystical place nestled in the heart of the mostly soulless Seattle suburb known as Bellevue where early farmers conspired to combine two of my obsessions. Larson Lake is a peat bog that is home to warm water fishies and surrounded by acres of heirloom blueberries. Ventured over twice in late July and early August to browse the berries and try for our first black crappies and bullhead catfish. Not completely sold on the merits of switching from salmonoids to fish with spines and even venom but only one way to find out if the taste is worth the risk.
Before I had even finished tying up the gear on the second rod, Kat was already bringing in her first fish!
And that was the end of the action for either trip... The blueberries helped take the edge off the bitter taste of defeat and the second night brought a swarm of bats. Out of 30+ pictures I was sure there would be something cool to share but I failed there too. Looking forward to a rematch next berry season!
