Washington has over 2,500 alpine lakes and I realized that meant there are 2,500 lakes where my casts could travel farther in the thin mountain air. We settled on Snow Lake as an appropriate test case. With solid scenery and a hike that was only moderately likely to induce heart failure, it was a solid start to another chapter in the fishing addiction:

Failed to find any sign of morning fishes although several backpackers reported seeing a lot of activity in the evenings. Not sure even I could justify walking back four miles in the dark... but I am probably kidding myself.
