Urban Outcast Music Discovery, Song #1, Sing Along by Robert Ellis - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fIn7EGxzk0
Going to try periodically providing some folksy music to go along with the reading experience. Links provided in the blog will not steal your identity but you may find I have terrible taste.
If you are like me and start to melt when the mercury creeps anywhere near 90°F, remember that you can always head to the beach at Westport to get a blast of what winter will feel like. I retreated there a couple weeks ago for the free AC and to try out some new techniques for ling cod, rock bass and surf perch.

The first thing I noticed was the fresh whitewash of the jetty. Bait fish have moved nearshore and the birds are following. I pulled my hood up, started rock hopping, and hoped for the best.
The river side was quite and it seemed absurd to let the wind numb my fingers in August so I popped over to the shelter of the ocean side to play in the waves. With my surf perch rig I could clearly feel something going to town on the gear but I could never set the hook and feel that surge of an unhappy fish. Even stranger, it felt like I was dragging my gear back through 40 yards of thick mud and weeds that did not exist on this beach... Turns out dungeness crabs are both greedy and stubborn creatures. I didn't manage to land any keepers but I drug a few more up onto the rocks. Also released an ambitious flounder before I was resigned to being skunked again and switched to filling my camera with wave pictures.
