Fishing Angels

Urban Outcast Music Discovery, Song #6, Take It All Back by Judah & The Lion
(Mandolin, bango, and hip hopish! Had to throw this one up quickly, its starting to get playing time on the radio and it will get harder to pretend like I am on the cutting edge... )

The recent snows reminded me that there are steelhead coming home for the winter and it was time to spend a weekend in the mountains. I probably will never catch one without divine intervention so I tried bowing down to a fishing angel, to no apparent effect.

Skykomish River:
Although it occurs to me that I might be a better fisherman if the camera stayed in my pocket, I have no self discipline. I will keep the chatter short to fit in more pictures:

Never came close to catching a fish and had to call it a day when I couldn't summon the strength or dexterity to operate a set of nail clippers with two hands...

Wallace River:
Decided to scout out a new river a little closer to town. The Wallace has a couple excellent waterfalls further upstream that are worth the hike but the flavor around the hatchery was definitely more urban:

Turns out I also have the disease of compulsively looking for shiny things in rivers. That little grass island in the last picture turned out to be my goldmine. I found four different styles of fishing represented: a spinner, a twitching jig, a corky drift setup, and a yarn drift setup. Just downstream on the left I found a bobber and jig to connect five and complete my scavenger bingo**!!

**Further fact checking has revealed that you need six in a row for a bingo but I still want to feel like a winner so I am sticking with it**
