Saddle Rock & Jacobson Preserve

Urban Outcast Music #53 - Roll on Columbia by Woodie Guthrie. Some quality lyrics and the original version is pretty good but we saw Old Crow Medicine Show perform this one and it was excellent, although not on the Tubes.
April 9th, 2022: We headed east to Wenatchee to escape the cold/wet Seattle spring. It was glorious but we were not expecting to hit snow in both directions. On the way home there were even pass closures so it was a good weather test for the new model y that finally arrived this winter. The family hike was up into Jacobson Preserve for some nice views of the Columbia valley.
We were just a little too early for the wildflowers on the north slopes but it was a good amount of grade for our little hikers.
After wearing down the boys, I was able to sneak away to Saddle Rock for a quick nap hike. Probably would have been a good toddler hike on a mileage basis (only 2 miles) but its a gain of over 900' and locking down the 2 year old in the backpack would have been required once reaching the rocks.
The trail provided something to look at the whole way and even came with a little snow flurry. In a first for me, there was free electric car charging in the parking lot. It wasn't something I got to take advantage of this trip because Wenatchee has free charging all over town but I'm a sucker for mooching free miles and will need to come back just to say I charged while hiking.
April 10th, 2022: On the way home we swung by the property to see where the snowline was at and if any of the big critters had migrated back from their winter range.
We didn't see them because two kiddos and a dog make for a pretty unstealthy party but there were elk around that day. They, like us, were probably wondering why they ever left the sunny hills around Wenatchee...
