I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2023! In looking back at the 2022 pictures, I realized the little family outings on the weekends were getting ignored in favor of the higher mileage weekday trips. This year we instituted a Saturday morning hike resolution in the spring and to our surprise, stuck to it so there were a lot of little hikes. To torture everyone that is not invested in the little dudes, I bring you photos of snack time from across the Puget Sound (but mostly King County). If I had realized sooner that this was my master plan for a post, I would have made them keep marching until we found more scenic seats... Also, I know you didn't ask but the staples, in the order typically requested, were: trail mix, fruit leather, grapes, bar.
You are probably noticing that I do not feed the children but in my defense, I have the equally valued role in keeping the dog far away from any fallen snacks. Our kids are not prejudiced against a little grit in their calories and do not appreciate canine competition.
