September 17, 2022: Nothing against wind or kite surfers but I really do not like seeing them when its time for fishing. This trip was just a quick run down to Green Lake while the youngest was taking his afternoon snooze. With no backup plan, I decided to double down on the lead weights and give it a shot.
I deployed two power bait slip rigs to passively wait for some of the planted rainbow trout while Orrin worked through his tackle box and practiced casting. We didn't hook into our two fellow dock mates but that element of danger kept me on my toes.
Eventually, one of the bait rigs started bobbing and Orrin got to reel in his first fish, a decent planted rainbow. With a little weight in the cooler and the kid vibrating with excitement, we decided to call it a day after about an hour.
Now I just need to figure out how to get him to try eating a fish...
