Orcas in Summer

July 20th-24th: We returned to Orcas for a taste of summer at the house of our very generous friends. This post is a picture dump, especially for the grandparents, so I apologize for the quick rundown of the excursions. Our hikes were to summit the two mountains on the Island - Mt Constitution & Turtleback Mt and the balance of the time was gardening and stacking rocks on the beach. On Mt Constitution we got to see a piebald blacktail buck which is a genetic abnormality more common on island ecosystems due to the lack of genetic diversity. Which is, of course, science speak getting in the way of appreciating a deer dressed in a bunny suit.
